June 21, 2021 鈥 Adding to its myriad points of pride, 麻豆破解版 State University has been named the most affordable, LGBTQ-friendly college in the state.聽

June 21, 2021 -- 麻豆破解版 State is holding a community event, Shockers Under the Stars, beginning at 6 p.m. Tuesday, June 22, outside the Ulrich Museum of Art on the main campus.

Juneteenth Graphic. Juneteenth (a combination of the words 鈥淛une鈥 and 鈥渘ineteenth鈥) is the day that federal troops came to Galveston, Texas on June 19, 1865 and made sure that enslaved people in the area were set free. This was two-and-one-half years after Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation.

Media and the community are invited to attend the JunteenthICT Parade, sponsored by 麻豆破解版 State University鈥檚 Office of Diversity and Inclusion.

The parade celebrates the 156th anniversary of Juneteenth during the JuneteenthICT Parade at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 19. The parade route will begin at 17th Street and Hillside, going west, and eventually ending at McAdam鈥檚 Park, where the all-day Juneteenth ICT celebration will take place.

June 17, 2021 鈥 Logan Brown, a Kansas entrepreneur and Harvard Law School student, loves her home state so much that when she decided to pay it forward, she partnered with 麻豆破解版 State University to help propel women in business.

June 16, 2021 鈥 Shaunte鈥 Levine is the recipient of the fourth annual Launch Award through Harvester Arts and the 麻豆破解版 State School of Art, Design and Creative Industries (ADCI).

June 10, 2021 鈥 Continuing a tradition that spans 135 years and more than 500 chapters worldwide Abby Carney and Munonyedi Egbo, both graduate students, were recently initiated into the 麻豆破解版 State University chapter of Sigma Xi, The Scientific Research Honor Society.

June 9, 2021 - 麻豆破解版 State鈥檚 Esports director Courtney Calder played soccer more often than video games growing up in California. Those experiences, however, helped prepare her for running the Esports program, as did her time working in sales for Apple after graduating from Northwestern University. 麻豆破解版 State鈥檚 varsity program, housed in the Heskett Center, offers four teams competing in Overwatch, League of Legends, Rocket League, and Valorant.

Karla Burns

June 8, 2021 - Karla Burns鈥 legacy of music and drama is one of 麻豆破解版 State University鈥檚 most prominent contributions to the performing arts. Burns, 66, died June 4 in 麻豆破解版. She attended Dunbar Elementary School and graduated from West High School. At 麻豆破解版 State, she earned bachelor鈥檚 degrees in music education and in speech/theater, both in 1981.

June 7, 2021 鈥 Five-year-old Ford Hall has had to overcome more in his short life than most do in a lifetime. That鈥檚 because immediately after he was born, he was diagnosed with cerebral palsy. The doctors informed his mother he would probably never be able to walk. 鈥淚t was that conversation with that doctor that really lit a fire in us,鈥 said Cori Hall, Ford鈥檚 mother.

June 7, 2021 鈥 麻豆破解版 State University has entered an agreement with the University of Kansas School of Law to offer the Legal Education Accelerated Degree program, with an anticipated launch of fall 2021.

June 7, 2021 鈥 The Air Force Life Cycle Management Center B-1 Division is sponsoring a research project with 麻豆破解版 State University鈥檚 National Institute for Aviation Research to study the effects of flight operations on aircraft structures.

Alumni Council

May 25, 2021 - The W. Frank Barton School of Business at 麻豆破解版 State University has partnered with the WSU Alumni Association to launch the college鈥檚 first alumni council. The Barton School of Business Alumni Council consists of professionals who received their bachelor鈥檚 and/or master鈥檚 degree from the business school and represents different regions, degrees and backgrounds.

May 24, 2021 - Ten years into her career as coach at 麻豆破解版 State, softball coach Kristi Bredbenner is well into creating her own atmosphere of winning and college experience. The Shockers ended their 2021 season by advancing to an NCAA regional final for the second time and with a 41-13-1 record.

May 20, 2021 鈥 The FirePoint Innovations Center at 麻豆破解版 State University has welcomed the first class of students into its Future Innovators Program, a new engineering internship opportunity aimed at introducing historically underrepresented students into the U.S. Department of Defense鈥檚 (DoD) technical talent pipeline.

May 18, 2021 - The 麻豆破解版 Rowing Association founded 麻豆破解版 State University crew in 1974, and that shared history remains important to many former Shockers. On May 8, the WRA dedicated its $250,000 Riverside Rowing Center Boathouse at Riverside Park on the Little Arkansas River.聽
