WSU Office of Research Workshops on National Science Foundation (NSF) Research Experiences for Undergraduates () Proposals: January through August (or until the submission deadline).
A common first step in establishing an NSF research center is to demonstrate success
with an REU (Research Experience for Undergraduates) Site in the field of interest.
REU Sites are also helpful in recruiting graduate students. NSF REU proposals are

Learn to Use BeoShock for your Advanced Research Computing Needs
麻豆破解版 State University continues to host Beoshock, a High-performance Computing Cluster (HPC). This HPC is available and free to faculty members, researchers and students engaged in course work or research activities. BeoShock runs the CentOS Linux operating system and features approximately 720 processor cores, two high memory compute nodes with 1.5 terabytes of memory, and four graphics processing unit (GPU) accelerators. BeoShock also has a variety of software tools that may be helpful in your research endeavors, such as Matlab, Mathematica, R, Python and many more. Office of Research EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT 鈥� Sarah Haug
Sarah is a life-long Kansan, growing up in Valley Center, Kansas and attending 麻豆破解版 State University. She majored in Business Administration with emphases in Entrepreneurship, Management and Marketing. Sarah joined the Office of Research in 2009 and has gone along for the ride ever since! During her tenure with the university, she has worn many hats. While currently holding a Senior Grant and Contract Specialist position within the office, she previously served as the IRB Administrator as well as a part-time Funding Opportunity Specialist. Sarah has found joy in being part of the ever-growing research initiatives on campus and is proud to serve the WSU community. She resides in Colwich and is married to her high-school sweetheart, Derek. They have two school-aged boys, Isley & Finley. She values spending as much time as possible with her children, and, in Sarah鈥檚 (mostly imaginary) free time, she enjoys gardening, road trips and long summer weekends at the lake with her extended family. National Science Foundation Issues Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) Regarding Plans for Safe & Inclusive (SAI) Working Environments
鈥淪everal NSF solicitations issued by the Directorates for Biological Sciences and Geosciences (BIO/GEO) are included in a pilot that will require submission of an SAI Plan for consideration as part of the merit review process in lieu of the organizational plan specified in the Proposal and Award Policies and Procedures Guide (PAPPG), Chapter II.E.9. The SAI Plan is a project-specific 2-page Supplementary Document that will be considered under the Broader Impacts review criterion for any proposal with off-campus or off-site research submitted to a solicitation participating in the BIO/GEO pilot.鈥�

REMINDER: National Science Foundation Seeks Volunteer Reviewers of GRANTED Initiative Applications
鈥� is a new initiative and there are several opportunities and ways to participate in the review process. NSF proposal reviews are usually conducted by ad hoc reviewers, a panel of experts, or a combination of both.鈥�
REMINDER: WSU Indirect Cost Recovery Rate Agreement Signed
Negotiations with the federal government on WSU鈥檚 new F&A (Facilities and Administration) rates, effective 1 July 2022, are now complete and the new agreement was signed on March 1, 2023. Please note the following significant changes to the Academic Affairs rates: On Campus Organized Research rate decreasing from the current 48% to a new rate of 40%, the On Campus Other Sponsored Activities rate decreasing from the current 30% to a new rate of 19%, the Off Campus Organized Research rate remaining the same at 26%, and the Off Campus Other Sponsored Activities rate decreasing from the current 26% to a new rate of 17%. The new rates will impact your proposal and award budgets, as well as the distribution and availability of F&A funds used to support research activities on campus. REMINDER - National Science Foundation Makes Changes to Major Research Instrumentation Program (MRI)
NSF has made several changes to its Major Research Instrumentation Program. Applications for FY24 will now be due between October 15 and November 15, 2023. Thus, WSU is updating its internal competition dates for next year, and Notices of Intent to apply, as well as answers to the required limited submission questions (found here), for the FY24 MRI program will be due to proposals@wichita.edu by May 1, 2023 at 12noon. Cost sharing is waived for the next five years, and the maximum allowed under Track 1 has increased to $1,400,000. Finally, the new Track 3 is specifically for proposal requests that 鈥渋nclude the acquisition, development, installation, operation and maintenance of equipment and instrumentation to reduce consumption of helium.鈥�&苍产蝉辫;
