Mentoring and Coaching Graduate Certificate

Overview

This online program provides leaders with professional skills and knowledge based on core coaching competencies and guidelines to design effective mentoring and coaching programs. Students may be able to apply some certificate courses toward their master or doctoral degree. Depending on courses chosen by students pursuing this certificate, earning the certificate may permit a student to pursue a Master's Degree in the College of Applied Studies in the School of Education or ISLE department, and for students pursuing the Educational Leadership Doctoral program's Educational Psychology track, they may choose Mentoring & Coaching as an emphasis. The certificate can also be added to existing graduate credentials.


Certificate Requirements

Required Courses (6 credit hours):

  • EL 773 Mentoring and Coaching Transformational Relationships (3)
  • EL 883 Mentoring and Coaching: Metacognitive Practice (3)

Electives (6 credit hours)

6 credit hours of electives should be selected in coordination with a graduate advisor. Potential areas of interest may include: instructional design, leadership, organization change, psychology and counseling.

Admission Requirements

Students may be admitted to the program following:

  1. A bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution; and
  2. A grade point average of at least 2.750 based upon the last 60 credit hours of coursework (or nearest semester or term break to this), including any post bachelor鈥檚 graduate work. Students who do not meet the 2.750 grade point average requirement may be admitted to this category on probation if reasonable evidence exists to indicate their ability to perform satisfactorily in 800-level or above coursework.

Current WSU graduate students: To apply for the certificate program, submit the Graduate School's located on the Graduate School's webpage. With departmental approval, the student may then be admitted to the certificate program. All Graduate School and departmental admission requirements apply. International students may enroll in the certificate program but must ensure it complies with their visa requirements.
