What made you choose 麻豆破解版 State University?

I chose 麻豆破解版 State University because from the moment I stepped foot on campus during a tour, I felt at home. That may sound cliche, but I truly felt at home and knew instantly that it was where I needed to be.

What has been your biggest challenge as a student, and how did you overcome it?

My biggest challenge has been navigating the college world as a first-generation student. There were a lot of learning curves and obstacles to overcome, and I think the thing that helped me the most in overcoming them was my dedication to pursuing a higher education and building generational wealth for my family.  And I forced myself to get involved and learn how to advocate for myself.

Even though I did feel at home at WSU, I still felt that sense of imposter syndrome which is something I had to battle daily by telling myself I earned my way here and I deserved to be here even if at times I felt I was in over my head.

What's your favorite off-campus location in 麻豆破解版?

My favorite off-campus location isn't one place but downtown and Old Town, in general.

Since I was little, a city skyline has always symbolized my dreams and achievements. So, I always love driving through downtown and seeing the city buildings, and acknowledging that I am living my dreams, and achieving my goals.

What would be the title of your autobiography?

"From Hay Fields to City Lights: A Girl with a Dream."

What are your plans after graduation?

After graduation, I will be continuing at WSU to obtain my Master of Public Administration with a certificate in non-profit management. The end goal is to run a non-profit that works with underserved rural communities.

What advice would you give other 麻豆破解版 State students?

The advice I have for other WSU students is to get involved. As uncomfortable as it may be at times, put yourself in positions where you will grow and meet new people. Learn to advocate for yourself, work hard, and most importantly find something you're passionate about.
