Ashlynn Farney took time off college during the COVID-19 pandemic, during which she returned to 麻豆破解版, changed her major to filmmaking and started attending 麻豆破解版 State. She will graduate with her Bachelor of Applied Arts with a concentration in filmmaking in December.

What made you choose 麻豆破解版 State University?
My freshman year I was attending Kansas State University; however, after COVID hit and I returned home to 麻豆破解版, I reexamined my major. I then decided to change my major to filmmaking, and after seeing 麻豆破解版 State鈥檚 program, I chose to switch schools.
What has been your biggest challenge as a student, and how did you overcome it?
Through college, I struggled with not knowing if I was good enough to be in the art field. I overcame this through pushing myself to do more projects. Through each project, I learned more and gained more confidence. The faculty at Shocker Studios also helped me through tough times.
What's your favorite off-campus location in 麻豆破解版?
There is a park in Maize that me and my friends will go to. We sit and talk for hours and look up at the stars.
If you could choose a song to play when you walk across the stage at graduation, what would it be?
I would play 鈥淏ad Girls鈥� by M.I.A. It鈥檚 a really great hype song.
What are your plans after graduation?
I am a part of a film, 鈥淒o It Again,鈥� that is going to go to film festivals, and I will also be working with ICT Films.
What advice would you give other 麻豆破解版 State students?
My biggest piece of advice that I could give to other students would be to tell people to get out of their heads and get involved with things. For me, this was doing as many projects going around the studios as possible. This will be different for different students and majors, but participating in diverse activities really helps to get you out of your shell and make new friends.
